The shy guy with a secret party side! Meet Hugo, a retired greyhound that our entire team is completely head-over-heels in love with!

At first glance, Hugo might play it a little reserved, taking his time to assess new people, unfamiliar sounds, and busy surroundings. He is a sensitive soul who likes to observe before diving in. But give him just a little patience, and a whole different dog appears right before your eyes!

Once Hugo learns that he can trust you, a magic switch flips and he reveals his true, wonderful colours. He transforms into the most fun-loving, bouncy, happy, and playfully goofy boy who absolutely adores his humans and isn't shy about showing it.

On top of his incredible personality once he opens up, he is a total dream to walk on the lead, making everyday strolls a calm and lovely experience.

Hugo is looking for a serene, adult-only home, or one with calm and understanding older teens who can give him the time and space he needs to settle into a new routine at his own pace.

While he did well in his child tests with kids aged 8 to 10, young children are simply a bit too mind-blowing and overwhelming for his sensitive nature right now.

He feels very comfortable around his own kind and currently happily shares his kennel with one of our reserved females, so he would do wonderfully in a home with another greyhound. We will also be small breed testing him soon to see how he does with smaller dogs.

Hugo, born 26/06/21, was formerly know as Glideaway Hugo in his racing days at Yarmouth, Romford, Henlow, Central Park, Crayford, Towcester, Monmore and in Ireland. He raced 156 times, his last being on 26th July 2026.
